Looking for TopCity BBS
Looking for DLX

December 9th 2008

What happened to TopCity? Well, I got busy, and the 7 year old server kept taking a nose dive. I have yet moved TopCity again to a more reliable location. I will be updating the web site very shortly taking all outdated content offline.

August 5th 2006

The older version of PageP was automatically upgrading to version 2006 for a couple months, and it seems to be stable. So, I have introduced a new package and deployment for the Client and Server. The next version of PageP will have some major core changes, and a face lift. We are talking at least 6 months.

I am also going to give this website a cleaning, and update my current workings and projects.

May 24th 2006

A new version of Page Professional is in beta stages. It will soon be online for anyone to download. Check out the Page Professional section to read about some of the new features. This update was a bit over due.

January 27th 2006

Wow, have I been busy. But, i think things are going well too. I plan on making some needed enhancements and clean ups to the PageP. I also plan on converting software raid on this machine to hardware raid.

Busy Busy Busy. Working on Manage-IT. Working on making it more database diverse and adding a bit of kick to its performance. As for hobbies, i have been making progress on the webmail portal. You can read more about that in future logic section.

March 13th 2005

Been very busy with work that pays the bills. Wrote a small program to import email, strip headers, and write into a SQL database. Making less data input for some employees. A lot of little odds and ends like that are keeping me away from my normal duties, but are important none the less.

Fixed a minor but annoying bug in the PageP program that was taking the focus away from the window you were typing in. Been so busy lately, just didn't have time to get to it.

Made some bug fixes and modifications to the Dlogic mail server. It has been undergoing a lot of changes lately to keep up with SPAMMERS and to keep things running smooth, and fast. Very happy with how this program is shaping up.

February 5th 2005

TopCity has relocated its servers again. We were offline for about 4-5 hours on friday February 4th. Our new connection is on a T1 line. Our last connection was microwave, and was becomming more and more unstable.

January 25th 2005

Happy New Year. First posting this year. Put on a new version of Page Professional Client and Server. Both have added features, however the biggest changes are to the server. I have been wanting to make a more user friendly server for quite awhile now. Page Professional is continually becoming more popular. I guess that means I'm doing something right. Enjoy!

November 18th 2004

Updated web site to be Mozilla Firefox web browser friendly. Much better now. A bit of quirkiness that I was able to clean up and make look nice.

November 10th 2004

I believe now PageP v2004 is where I want it. I had some issues with file transfers working properly when dealing with inner LAN networking. Issues arose from internal and external IP confusion, along with stack overflows due to the higher transfer rates within a LAN environment. I use PageP for private and business. Our office has grown in staff, and the PageP has become a fundamental tool. Both for quick communication and easy file transferring. Of course, i have all along been using it to keep up with friends and family.

The last few months have been VERY busy. Between me being sick for about 2 weeks, and a new software release of Manage-IT called X4, and a new employee, things have been chaotic at times.

I finally got the last of the family on the VOIP band wagon. It's so nice to be able to call all my friends and family that i talk to the most for free. I haven't had a land based phone now for about two years. If you have a high speed internet connection, it is truly the way to go.

September 26th 2004

New version of Page Professional put online. One very needed enhancement. Software will auto update.

September 9th 2004

I have the worst luck with power supplies. The TopCity server seems to be hard on power supplies. The last one failed about one year 6 months ago on February 27th 2003. Any way, TopCity server was offline for approximately two hours about 7 to 9pm. I'm back. Yea!!! :) Let's hope a newer 500 watt will do the trick.

August 22nd 2004

An updated PageP has been released that fixes some bugs that popped up from the masses utilizing the software.

July 25th 2004

Is it true? Yes. Page Professional 2004 is now released. Why did it take so long? Three reasons. I couldn't resist tweaking little features here and there. I wanted a stable first version, and little stupid bugs popped up here and there. Lastly, I do have a full time job, and sometimes it's hard to sit down and program on a personal level when I have been programming all day on a business level. (smile) Well, regardless, here it is. I hope you enjoy it as much as my Beta testers have! Leave your testimony!

July 10th 2004

Today, I put a new freeware program on for all. SIP my Contacts is a SIP protocol registration agent that can register with up to 10 SIP servers. This is an advanced program meant to please internet telephone gurus. If you download and find use for this program, please leave your testimony!

What about Page Professional? I keep tweaking with it! Adding little features here and there and working out the little bugs that creak out.

June 10th 2004

Wow, I cannot believe how tricky these email robots are getting. I just got an email from a friend asking if i sent her an email. The email came from an email address that does not exist. It was made up, but with some smarts! It was based on the title page of this website, and the domain of the website. So, I guess I will have to change the title of my web page to NOT include my name on it.

Page Professional is coming along. I think i will be releasing it very shortly.

March 28th 2004

Page Professional 2004 is coming along nicely. Some of the new features will include file transfering amonst users, buddy lists, and easy link/file and picture navigation. New who listing for better listing management. It is in FINAL beta stages with final clean ups being made. Expected release around May 2004.

February 25th 2004

I am keeping busy. Programming, Socializing, Skiing, Snow shoeing, Ice fishing, and board playing.

November 29th 2003

Page Professional 2004 is being worked on, so are improvements with My Contacts. I have also made a couple of tweaks to the Mail server. My Contacts is still in beta stages and is not available to the general public. Happy Holidays to everyone.

October 14th 2003

I took a much needed vacation, and have moved away from Boston, MA. I spent a little over a month in California, and have since relocated. I have taken residence in the deep forests where ice fishing is a winter sport, and snow mobile trails are more vasts then the highways.

I have some catch up to do, but in my off time have thought up some improved directions for PageP. I hope to start coding the changes within the next month. Some of the enhancements include co-location, and a form of buddy list.

July 20th 2003

I wrote an SIP agent that will register a contact address with an SIP proxy server. For what purpose? I have a Cisco ATA186 device that allows you to use regular analog phones to make internet telephone calls. This device will only register with one SIP proxy server at a time. I set it up to use a proxy server that allows me to make phone calls to traditional telco phone numbers. But, i would also like to be able to receive calls from other services such as FWD. So, my SIP agent program will register with FWD telling it to send any calls that come in for me to my Cisco device. By doing this, i can then receive phone calls from any FWD user along with the service provider my Cisco device maintains. Slick huh.. :) If you're interested in this program please email me.

July 3rd 2003

TopCity servers are back and happy.. :>

June 25th 2003

TopCity servers are moving locations. All websites hosted by TopCity will be offline for about 5 days as the actual server is being shipped across country. The new location should be a more permanent location. So, don't think I have abandoned the internet, the server is just going on a little vacation. (smile)

March 6th 2003

Page Professional 2003 version now released. This took a bit longer then expect because some (older) machines with Windows 95 and some Windows 98 were causing the program to crash because the the system did not have updated system files. This version seems to be very popular with my beta testers, as they have been running versions of it for a couple months now. Check out this new version by clicking programs link, and scrolling to Page Professional.

February 27th 2003

Power supply went bad on the server yesterday. Power supplies seem to be the weakest link in computer systems lately for me. That and hard drives. Server was off line for a few hours. Hopefully a 400 watt will be good for it. Server is now firewalled. I got tired of people unsuccesfully attempting to hack into my server. It was filling up my security logs, so for no other reason then - got tired of looking through the logs, i jumped behind a firewall.

February 08th 2003

Well, its been an interesting last few days. The Internet server took a dump, and the mirrored backup drive failed as well. It took me about 12 hours to get it back online, but it was off for a full night, cause i had to get some sleep. Have had some other minor down times due to new hard drive installation and patch and upgrade reboots. Everything should be back up to snuff now. I am holding back on the latest beta release of Page Professional, because I am having an instance of a program crash that is duplicated on multiple machines, but I have yet to figure out the exact cause. I know it has something to do with a missing system file or outdated system file, but being i am unable to replicate this error on my end, it is going a bit slowerer trying to track it down.

January 19th 2003

Page Professional Client/Server have been greatly enhanced. It is in beta stages, but a new version out soon. Check out the PageP section for details on the upcoming changes.

January 16th 2003

Well, i actually made the upgrade on my personal computer to Windows XP Professional. I have made it a habit of waiting until Microsoft releases their first service pack before I will upgrade operating systems. Seems to be going smoothly so far, but months will tell... To the point, I have noticed that some of my programs are not very Windows XP friendly looking, So i will be cleaning up the ShareTella, and the PageP(client) So they will look nice.

DTmail is coming along. I am creating a nice interface, so there is a lot of scripting along with programming as I'm dealing with html and asp scripting along with programming.

December 29th 2002

New version of ShareTella released today. This version has a lot of enhancements over the previous version. this will probably be the last version for a few months other then any bug fixes that may come up. The reason for this is because Gnutella2 is in talks, and I would like to see where this is headed. I may adopt this if the protocol takes hold. Enjoy the new version..

December 19th 2002

I am going to start a new project. It is a extension to my mail server. This will allow you to send/receive email through an IIS server (ASP scripts). The first version will only support text (no file attachements). The second version will support file attachments.

November 25th 2002

Manage-IT has reached a wonderful stage. We are closing the doors on version 2002 and I get to spend all time now working on 2003. What does this mean? It means that 2002 is pretty worked through. I am really happy with the progress and stability this program has shown.

ShareTella is in development again for added features. I'm in no hurry to put out version 3 as I work on it on my free time. I do hope to have it out around March of 2003.

November 19th 2002

I have been so very consumed lately on a personal level that has deeply affected me. I received an email today - the first in a month through this website. It woke me back up so to speak. It caused me to put some updates online that I have avoided for about two months. Life can certainly get crazy at times. If anything - I believe it is causing me to be more expanded in my views of life.

Background:

Hello, I am Dustin, programer, designer, engineer, and creator. I have been designing programs since the age of eleven. My many years of programming (over 20 now!) has brought me much joy, allowing me to discover many new things, traveling to many new places. I have picked up extensive programming knowledge over the years : Basic, Pascal, Dbase, Ada, VB, C++, and .NET. I've also dived quite deeply into scripting languages, such as Asp,VB, and Java, which have helped shape many of the html-based utilities I have accomplished. Back in the days of BBS's, I worked extensively with DLX and operated my own BBS for a good number of years. Ultimately I designed a GUI version which still runs today.

Currently, my main project (and greatest endeavor yet) is Manage-IT, a Property manage-ment software program I'm programming for a firm in San Diego, CA USA. Manage-IT has put all my skills as a programmer to the test, requiring me to design a program with deep complexity inside, but simplicity on the outside. This is an overflowing full featured accounting system keeping track of every movement and transaction that property managers deal with on a daily and not-so-daily basis. The project is monumental to say the least.

As this "technology age" grows ever faster, and ever vaster, it is my goal as a programmer to continually keep updated with the latest enhancements and features and versatilities that languages and its technologies have to offer. That's why in over 20 years of programming, I have spanned so many languages. It keeps life more interesting.

Utilitarian programs have always been my focus; programs that serve a purpose and make your life easier. Software that is versatile and that the end user has powerful control of. I drive on efficiency rather than clutter!

With that, I hope you enjoy what you find here at TopCity Logic
